F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions

Is everything organic?
Yes everything is organic! We buy from a specifically organic company. We have thought about getting a few local non-organics when they are in season, but will be sure to survey the group first.

What types of fruit and veggies do you get every week?
We usually get 3-5 varieties of fruits and 4-5 varieties of veggies. We always get one cooking green and one salad green as part of the veggies. Everything else is dependent on pricing and availability.

Where does it come from?
The produce comes from a variety of places. Unfortunately when we order from Albert's Organics we don't know where it comes from. Yes, sometimes it is California. BUT, during the local Floridian growing season we strive to get a good amount of produce from local growers including, a local farm called Inyoni Farms.

What is the cost of the weekly order?
$25 for two bags of organic produce OR $15 for one bag of organic produce* - NEW!

Do you have to pay a membership fee?
No, but we do ask that your first week's payment covers 2 weeks of produce and the price of your reuseable bags. For $25 bag members your initial payment will be $60. $15 bag members will pay $35 for their initial payment.

Do I get to choose what I get?

Due to the nature of our 'buying club' type of co-op, we offer a variety of produce in each bag. You can choose one item (for the life of your membership) that you will NOT get. This will become your 'thanks, but no thanks' item and you will not get that item in your bag, but have extra of something else from that week's shipment substituted.

How do I get started?
Getting started....We just need your full contact information and your payment by Friday. You can pay your initial payment via check, cash or paypal. It can be dropped off or mailed. Every week after this first one, payments of $25 or $15 are expected on pick up day (unless you choose to pay monthly).

Do you have a web site I can go?
Yes! Your staring at it! Also, you can check out pictures on our co-op's Flickr album and feel free to add pictures to our group pool as well((I'll send you and invitation if you're interested)!!

Can you order extra?
We haven't really done this for anyone yet. If you have a large family we would suggest getting two bags. Any other extra orders would have to be for an entire case of something. OR...let us know and we might be able to work it out if we already have extras of something one week anyway.

Do you send a list to everyone in advance so they know what they are getting?
We TRY to send one out as a courtesy on Mondays. Unfortunately we can't send it out any earlier since we don't get the price list until that morning. Order goes in on Monday morning and we get the delivery Tuesday. Pickup is Tuesday after noon from 2-8pm at Danielle's house in Golden Gate City.

Can you cancel certain weeks?
YES, if you'll be out of town, on vacation or such we are happy to give you a week off. We do ask that you pay for your returning week though so it make it easier for everyone on your return. You can get right back into the swing of things with no extra trips to drop off money...or bags.

How do you make the payments?
Check or cash ( and for first time start-up payment you can use our paypal account at greenvillageorganics@gmail.com ). We highly recommend that everyone pays for there next week's produce on pickup day. That way we know how many to expect for the next week right away and it cuts down on our overall work. IF that's not possible we do accept payments until Friday of the week prior. If you need to send a check in the mail that is fine too. There are a few folks in the group that pay a month at a time and remember at the first of the month to pay us for four weeks of produce.

I don't live in Naples. Where can I find my local co-op?

If you live in the Ft. Myers area there are two contact people that you can contact to get involved in a co-op. Please email us to get their contact information. If you outside of our local SW Florida area, check out LocalHarvest.org or greenpeople.com for more info...or just google your city name with organic co-op.
